HB 604 Summary

• Prohibits gambling interests and their agents or representatives from making direct or indirect contributions of money or things of value to candidates for state office or political action committees supporting state candidates.

• Defines "gambling interest" as any business deriving any portion of its gross annual receipts from gambling activities, including sale of gambling equipment or paraphernalia.

• Exempts individual candidates who are employed by or agents for a gambling interest from the prohibition, allowing them to contribute to their own campaigns.

• Becomes effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
