HB638 Summary

• Amends Section 7-9A-523, Code of Alabama 1975, to authorize the Secretary of State's Information Bulk Sales Fund to be used for administration of the Office of the Secretary of State.

• Changes the fund's permissible uses from "any purpose" to specifically allow expenditures "for any purpose whatsoever related to the administration of the Office of the Secretary of State" as determined by the Secretary of State.

• Requires that funds be allotted and budgeted in accordance with Article 4 of Chapter 4 of Title 41, and only in amounts and for purposes provided by the Legislature in the general appropriation bill or this section.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor, or upon otherwise becoming law.
