• Creates the Bureau of Senior Services within the Alabama Department of Public Health to coordinate services for senior citizens, with the bureau succeeding to all powers of the Department of Senior Services.

• Establishes a Director of the Bureau of Senior Services position to be appointed by the State Health Officer, with salary set by the State Health Officer and exempt from standard state salary schedules.

• Director has overall supervision and management of transferred functions, subject to State Health Officer approval, with authority to reorganize divisions, units, and functions without altering employee classification or compensation.

• On January 1, 2016, all books, records, supplies, funds, equipment, and personnel of the Department of Senior Services transfer to the new bureau; all transferred employees maintain their classification, benefits, and seniority with no salary decreases.

• Code Commissioner must conform all references in the Code of Alabama 1975 to reflect the departmental reorganization; conflicting laws are repealed, effective January 1, 2016.
