• Extends the statute of limitations for civil claims by sexual abuse victims to two years from the final adjudication of the related criminal case, rather than two years from the date of injury.

• Applies to civil actions by victims of any sex offense under Section 15-20A-5, Code of Alabama 1975, for personal injuries resulting from sexual abuse.

• The extended statute of limitations does not apply if the related criminal case does not commence within two years of the alleged commission of the sex offense.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
