HB 90 Summary

• Transfers all employees from Bishop State Community College, Southern Union State Community College, Bevill State Community College, and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education who work in the Alabama Career Center System (One-Stop system) to the Alabama Department of Labor effective July 1, 2015.

• Transferred employees receive Merit System classifications and status, with all years of service credited by the State Personnel Department.

• Transferred employees retain all salary and benefits with no adverse effects and gain all privileges and responsibilities of Merit System employees under the Merit System Act.

• Implementation is contingent upon federal Congressional appropriation of adequate funding from the Federal Workforce Investment Act or any successor/similar act for fiscal year 2015 or later, as determined by the Director of Finance.

• The act becomes effective July 1, 2015, upon passage and approval by the Governor.
