HJR346 Summary

• Establishes a Joint Interim Committee To Study Municipal Police Jurisdiction Laws composed of 6 Senate members (3 selected by President Pro Tempore, 3 by Lieutenant Governor) and 6 House members (selected by Speaker).

• Committee shall study Alabama laws relating to municipal police jurisdictions and make suggestions for improvement of these laws.

• Committee membership must reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban, rural, and economic diversity of the state.

• Committee shall hold initial meeting upon adjournment of 2015 Regular Legislative Session and report findings and proposed legislation to legislative leaders on first day of 2016 Regular Session, after which it dissolves.

• Committee members receive regular legislative compensation, per diem, and travel expenses; total expenditures requested not to exceed $2,500.
