Commends Pastor Samuel L. Calhoun for 31 years of faithful and dedicated service to Sunflower AOH Church of God in Thomasville, Alabama, where he is the longest living active African American pastor.

Recognizes his prior service at five other Alabama churches: Century Baptist Church in Grove Hill, True Vine in Cyrene, New Salem in Pine Hill, Union Baptist in Wagerville, and St. Matthew Baptist Church in Jackson.

Acknowledges his military service with 26 years in the Army and his diverse professional skills including auto/diesel mechanics, welding, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, masonry, barbering, and truck driving, as well as his 13-year ownership of Calhoun Trucking.

Notes his active pastoral duties including administering the Lord's Supper, performing weddings and funerals, maintaining church facilities, visiting the sick and shut-in, and serving as a church musician, along with various church leadership roles.

Honors his family: wife Joyce Fisher Calhoun and five children—Samuel Calhoun II, Ryrick Calhoun, Jackolyn Calhoun Grayson, Regina Calhoun Madison, and Melvin Calhoun.
