• Recognizes Eric O. Cates, Jr., on his induction into the Auburn University Agricultural Alumni Association Hall of Honor.

• Cates has owned and operated a 1,600-acre Butler County farm since 1946, producing row crops, livestock, hay, and timber, and served in the Army National Guard during World War II in the Aleutian Islands and Philippines.

• Served as county director of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, served two terms in the Alabama House of Representatives, and held leadership positions with the Alabama Farmers Federation and Alabama Cattlemen's Association since 1960.

• Taught Sunday School for 30 years at Fort Deposit Methodist Church and is survived by four children, 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren after his wife Louise's death in December 2013.

• Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Mr. Cates in recognition of his legacy of excellence in agriculture and service to Alabama.
