Commends Officer Morris Garner of the Birmingham Police Department as a nominee for the 2015 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

On January 12, 2014, at 6:45 a.m., Officer Garner responded to a house fire, rushed into the burning residence, located a woman trapped inside, and carried her to safety.

Officer Garner and the woman he rescued both suffered smoke inhalation injuries and received hospital treatment; he and another officer were unable to reenter due to intense flames and smoke.

Recognizes Officer Garner's quick thinking, diligence, courageous determination, and willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice to preserve a life in a highly dangerous situation.

Directs that Officer Garner receive a copy of the resolution as evidence of the House's admiration and esteem.
