Commends Norman B. Wooding, born November 28, 1923, in Rosedale, Alabama, for his exemplary career as a gospel singer.

Wooding began singing at age 12 in 1935 with the McMillan Juniors and performed with multiple gospel groups including the Birmingham Travelers, Willing Workers Gospel Group, and Pillars of Birmingham.

Hosted radio programs for over 60 years, including the Stallworth and Johnson Funeral Home program from 1944 to 1965 and the Gospel Unity Hour for over 20 years on WJLD-AM radio in Bessemer.

Served as a member and Deacon at Saint John Missionary Baptist Church since 1932 and volunteered as a civil rights activist with the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights under Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth.

Served his community as a Block Captain with Neighborhood Watch and volunteer crossing guard at Powderly Elementary School, earning numerous community awards for his service.
