Mary Lane graduated from Councill Training School in 1945 and attended Alabama A and M University; she taught at Union School and married James Lane on October 13, 1946, with whom she had five children.

Recognized for her involvement in church activities at Taylor's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, including picnics, outreach activities, museum trips, youth field trips, and nursing home visits.

Celebrated her 90th birthday on August 10, 2014, and received numerous community awards and certificates for her service to organizations throughout the Tennessee Valley area.

The House of Representatives honors Mrs. Mary E. Lane for her long and productive life, extending sincere best wishes for continued prosperity.
