Commends the Huntsville Police Department's School Resource Officer Unit for receiving the National Association of School Resource Officer (NASRO) 2015 Model Agency Award.

NASRO will present the award at an awards luncheon on July 7, 2015, at the 25th Annual NASRO School Safety Conference.

The Huntsville Unit consists of 19 officers and a sergeant assigned to the Special Operations Division responsible for providing police services to all Huntsville City School facilities and school events.

The unit employs a triad approach to school policing with roles as Law Enforcer, Informal Counselor, and Informal Educator, and provides specialized A.L.I.C.E. training as a preferred response to armed intruders.

Officers have worked with community organizations, taught training courses for school administrators and teachers, and attended educational conferences at their own expense.
