Recognizes Dr. Farrell Seymore, Principal of Opelika High School in Lee County, as the 2015-2016 Principal of the Year for Alabama.

Dr. Seymore earned a Bachelor's Degree from Auburn University in 1997, a Master's Degree in 2001, and a Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in 2011.

Under his leadership, Opelika High School shifted to a student-centered learning culture with increased advanced placement course participation, expanded course offerings, and career technical education programs including Microsoft Office credentialing, health science, and information technology.

Dr. Seymore has served as an educator in Alabama for 18 years, with 13 years in administrative positions, implementing Alabama's College-and-Career Ready Standards.

The award was presented by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals through their Principal of the Year Program, established in 1993.
