Commends Kayla Smith of Montevallo, Alabama, for heroic rescue actions on May 22, 2015, at Perdido Beach.

Smith and three fellow Montevallo High School graduates (Lupe Serrano, Meredith Goggins, and Katie Hamrick) swam into the ocean and rescued three young girls who were 30-40 feet offshore and in distress.

Paramedics performed CPR on the two older girls, who were flown to Sacred Heart Hospital; the youngest daughter did not require hospitalization.

Smith sustained injuries during the rescue and was hospitalized.

Directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to Smith in admiration and appreciation for her heroic efforts.
