Amends Section 36-30-2 of Alabama Code to provide that families of firefighters or law enforcement officers who currently serve or previously served and die from occupational disease are eligible for the $100,000 state death benefit as if the person died in the performance of duties.

Qualifies individuals for the death benefit if they satisfy the three years' service requirement and physical examination requirements under Sections 11-43-144, 36-30-22, or 36-30-41.

Allows resubmission of applications for state death benefits that were denied after April 29, 2010, because the decedent was not employed on the date of death.

Permits the awarding authority to reconsider and grant resubmitted applications within six months of the bill becoming law.

Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
