• Reduces jury size from 12 to 6 members in misdemeanor and violation cases on appeal from district or municipal court.

• Reduces jury size from 12 to 6 members in civil cases where the amount in controversy does not exceed $50,000 at the time of filing.

• Allows persons 70 years of age or older to be excused from jury service upon written request to the county jury commission.

• Permits persons 70 years or older to request removal from the master list of potential jurors, with ability to request reinstatement if they meet qualifications.

• Applies a 6-member jury in criminal cases where a defendant pleads guilty to a nonviolent offense subject to presumptive sentencing and the prosecutor pursues an increased sentence based on aggravating circumstances that the defendant does not stipulate to or agree the judge alone will determine.
