Applies only to Hale County and authorizes the Sheriff of Hale County or designee to provide local background checks to county residents upon request.

Local background checks search only local criminal records available to the sheriff's office and do not include national or state criminal databases.

Fee for a local background check is $10, with collected fees deposited in the Sheriff's Fund for law enforcement purposes in Hale County at the sheriff's discretion.

Collected funds cannot diminish other sources of income for the sheriff or jail operations and may not revert to the county general fund at fiscal year end.

Act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
