SB212 Summary

• Allows each state agency to designate up to two additional exempt employees beyond those already permitted by law, provided these positions cannot be held by agency heads.

• Clarifies that employees returning to a former merit or civil service classification revert to their former position in the classified service without loss of salary or accrued benefits.

• Specifies that when an employee returns to a former classification, no other employee in that classification shall be reduced; any necessary reductions must occur through attrition only.

• Becomes effective October 1, 2015.
