AL SB279

Proposes a constitutional amendment requiring all statewide and local constitutional amendments to be submitted to voters at either a statewide primary or general election.

Requires all referendums mandated by state or local law to be submitted at a statewide primary or general election.

Requires all referendums called by any county, municipality, or other local governing body to be submitted at a statewide primary or general election.

Amendment supersedes Sections 284 and 285, and Amendments 425 and 555 of the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, and any other conflicting law.

Election officials must assign a ballot number and set forth the amendment's substance with yes/no voting options on the election ballot.
