SB363 Summary

• Establishes that work product (plans, designs, reports, studies, data, or other information) produced by professionals and paid for with public funds becomes the property of the governmental entity that funded it.

• Allows work product created for one governmental entity to be transferred to and used by other governmental entities within the state without modification.

• Defines "governmental entity" as any department, agency, board, commission, or other entity receiving state funding.

• Defines "professional" to include architects, builders, engineers, attorneys, scientists, and other persons engaged in specialized trades.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
