SB447 Summary

• Eliminates distributions to Etowah County Rescue Squad ($10,000) and Attalla Rescue Squad ($5,000) from county sales and use tax proceeds.

• Reduces distributions by 9 percent each to Gadsden State Community College, Etowah County Fund, Etowah County Community Development Committee, and Etowah County Library Committee, effective after September 30, 2015.

• Redirects funds from the 9 percent reductions to Etowah County Drug Enforcement Task Force (45.8 percent), District Attorney's Office for assistant district attorney hiring (11.2 percent), and Sheriff's Department to augment deputy salaries (43 percent), beginning October 1, 2015.

• Maintains existing distributions to Smeltzer Education Training Center ($60,000), Mental Retardation and mental health centers ($50,000), school systems (85 percent), county volunteer fire departments (6 percent), and library committees ($2,500 per public school library).

• Effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
