SB448 Summary

• Transfers employer contributions for probate judge judicial retirement from the state General Fund to individual counties effective October 1, 2015.

• Requires each employer county to pay monthly "normal contributions," "accrued liability contributions," and administrative expense amounts for each probate judge, with percentages determined annually by the Judicial Retirement Fund actuary.

• Maintains existing probate judge employee contribution rates of 8.5% of salary (as of October 1, 2012).

• Excludes probate judge retirement contributions from the state's obligation to fund the Judicial Retirement Fund under Code Section 12-18-3.

• Requires a two-thirds legislative vote to become effective due to creating new expenditures for local counties under Alabama Constitutional Amendment 621.
