SB479 Summary

• Amends Section 10A-1-4.31 of the Alabama Code to authorize the Secretary of State Entity Fund to be used for administration of the Office of the Secretary of State.

• Changes fund expenditure rules from prohibiting any use to allowing funds to be spent on purposes related to Office of the Secretary of State administration, as determined by the Secretary of State.

• Requires that fund expenditures comply with budgeting procedures under Article 4 of Chapter 4 of Title 41 and amounts/purposes provided by the Legislature in the general appropriation bill.

• Directs 70 percent of entity-related fees collected by the Secretary of State during each fiscal year to be deposited into the State General Fund.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
