Local boards of education may adopt fiscal management policies authorizing financial transactions by electronic means according to standards approved by the State Superintendent of Education and Department of Examiners of Public Accounts.

Electronic transaction methods authorized include direct deposit and electronic payments to employees, vendors, contractors, and government agencies; receipt of student payments and donations via credit/debit cards; and electronic purchase orders and procurement documents.

State Superintendent of Education must annually provide each local superintendent a listing of required financial reports to be published on local board websites and State Department of Education websites for public accountability information.

Local superintendent offices must place a display advertisement of at least one-half page in a county newspaper of general circulation announcing available reports and website addresses.

Sections 16-8-37 and 16-11-24 of the Code of Alabama 1975, relating to publication of annual financial reports by city and county boards of education, are repealed.
