SJR36 Summary

• Urges law enforcement, prosecutors, and juvenile courts to enforce Alabama's prohibition against contributing to the delinquency of minors under Section 12-15-111 of the Code of Alabama 1975.

• Directs investigation of parents, legal guardians, legal custodians, or other persons having custody or supervision of children in juvenile justice proceedings for potential involvement in contributing to delinquency.

• Directs investigation of any other persons not in a custodial relationship with a child who may have aided, encouraged, or caused the child to become delinquent, dependent, or in need of supervision.

• Mandates enforcement of existing state law against contributing to delinquency when evidence shows adults willfully aided, encouraged, or caused a child to become delinquent, dependent, or in need of supervision.

• Senate adopted resolution on April 30, 2015; House adopted on May 28, 2015.
