SJR52 Summary

• Establishes the Alabama One-Call Notification System Study Commission to review and improve Alabama's underground damage prevention law, originally enacted in January 1995.

• Commission shall study whether a single, statewide One-Call notification system should be required for all underground facility operators and review the adequacy of current enforcement provisions.

• Commission membership includes 19 specified positions appointed by various state officials and organizations, plus additional members appointed by legislative leadership and the Governor, with chair appointed by Public Service Commission President.

• Commission members serve without compensation or reimbursement of expenses and may conduct meetings via teleconference.

• Commission must deliver final report and recommendations to the Legislature and Governor by December 31, 2015, for consideration during the 2016 legislative session.
