AL SJR68

Urges law enforcement, prosecutors, and juvenile courts to investigate parents, legal guardians, legal custodians, or other persons having custody or supervision of children involved in juvenile proceedings under Alabama's Juvenile Justice Act for their involvement in contributing to delinquency.

Directs investigation of any other persons not standing in relation to the child who may have aided, encouraged, or caused the child to become delinquent, dependent, or in need of supervision.

Calls for enforcement of Section 12-15-111 of the Code of Alabama 1975, which makes adults criminally liable for willfully aiding, encouraging, or causing children to become or remain delinquent, dependent, or in need of supervision.

Recognizes that minors need protection due to lack of experience, maturity, and decision-making capacity, and that children without adequate adult supervision or those encouraged by adults to participate in delinquent behavior are at risk of committing crimes or becoming crime victims.
