SJR82 Summary

• Establishes the Alabama Task Force on Outdated Boards and Commissions to examine and review existing boards and commissions for elimination of outdated or expired entities.

• Task force composition includes the Speaker of the House, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, chairs of House and Senate Rules Committees (serving as co-chairs), one minority party member from each chamber, one Governor-appointed person, Secretary of State, Senate Sunset Committee Chair, House Boards/Agencies/Commissions Committee Chair, and additional technical experts as needed.

• Task force must organize by May 2015, meet as necessary, and report findings and proposed legislation by the fifth day of the 2016 Regular Legislative Session, at which point it dissolves.

• Legislative members receive regular compensation, per diem, and travel expenses per Amendment 871 of the Alabama Constitution, paid from legislative appropriations.

• Legislative Fiscal Office, Legislative Reference Service, Alabama Law Institute, and Department of Revenue shall provide research, information compilation, and legislative drafting assistance to the task force.
