Urges all Alabama hospitals to offer influenza immunization to inpatients age 65 and older prior to discharge, in accordance with Advisory Committee on Immunizations Practices recommendations from October through March.

Notes that 90 percent of seasonal flu-related deaths and more than 60 percent of flu-related hospitalizations in the United States occur in individuals over age 65.

Specifies that at least 13 other states have implemented similar provisions through law, resolution, or regulation regarding annual flu vaccination offerings.

Clarifies this resolution does not mandate hospitals offer the vaccine and is contingent upon vaccine availability and absence of medical contraindications in the patient.
