Iron and steel manufacturing has been a cornerstone of Alabama's economy for over 100 years and remains a vital industry catalyst.

Alabama iron and steel manufacturers face competitive disadvantages from illegally "dumped" foreign iron and steel products, particularly from countries like China that fail to uphold international trade obligations.

Foreign steel imports are flooding the U.S. market at historic rates and being sold below fair market production costs, while current trade law requires significant damages before "dumping" injury can be determined.

The Alabama State Legislature urges the Alabama Congressional Delegation to support fair competition by strengthening enforcement provisions and improving the effectiveness of international and U.S. trade laws to combat unfair trade practices.

A copy of this resolution shall be sent to each member of the Alabama Congressional Delegation.
