HB101 Summary

• Prohibits operating a dump truck on any Alabama highway, road, or street with the truck bed raised more than 20 degrees, except when actively dumping a load.

• First offense is a Class C misdemeanor; second and subsequent offenses are Class B misdemeanors.

• Any law enforcement officer may enforce this section and cite violators at accident scenes if they have reasonable cause, even without witnessing the violation.

• Known as "The Ricky Morgan Act" and becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.

• Bill is exempted from Amendment 621 local funding requirements because it defines a new crime.
