Requires non-volunteer fire departments with firefighters on duty 8+ hours per day to install diesel exhaust systems in fire station buildings within 5 years of the act's effective date.

Mandates that all new fire station construction beginning after the effective date must include a diesel exhaust system in the design and a separate sealed room for storing protective gear.

Fire stations under construction before the effective date without a diesel exhaust system in their design must install one within 5 years of the effective date.

Exempts fire stations with existing filter-type exhaust systems unless the system needs replacement, in which case the station must comply with the new requirements.

Requires a 2/3 vote for passage to become effective for local governmental entities, unless the entity approves it or the Legislature appropriates funds or provides a local revenue source.
