Changes Section 16-9-24 of the Alabama Code to make it optional rather than mandatory for county superintendents of education to maintain an office at the county seat.

If a county superintendent chooses to maintain an office at the county seat, the county commission must provide ample, convenient, and comfortable office quarters, furniture, equipment, stationery, postage, forms, and supplies.

If a county superintendent maintains an office outside the county seat, the county board of education becomes responsible for providing office quarters, furniture, equipment, stationery, postage, forms, and supplies.

The bill becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
