AL HB157

Establishes the Assisted Suicide Ban Act prohibiting any person or health care provider from deliberately providing aid in dying to another person.

Makes assisting suicide or providing aid in dying a Class C felony for both individuals and health care providers.

Provides civil liability for damages and allows wrongful death actions when aid in dying results in death; health care providers engaging in such conduct shall have their licenses suspended or revoked.

Exempts lawful executions by lethal injection, withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining treatment per patient wishes, and palliative care or pain management intended to relieve pain.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval.
