Increases the minimum waiting period between municipal option elections on alcohol sales from 720 days to 1,440 days (approximately 2 years to 3.95 years).

Applies to elections where municipalities change classification from dry to wet or wet to dry regarding legal sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages.

Maintains the existing requirement that a petition signed by 30 percent of voters from the last general election is needed to call a municipal option election.

Preserves the ability to hold county wet-dry elections or special referendums at any time without regard to the municipal election timing restrictions.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
