Amends Section 16-25A-18 of the Alabama Code regarding generic equivalent medications under the Public Education Employees Health Insurance Programs (PEEHIP).

Allows prescribing physicians to indicate that a generic equivalent drug should not be used through three methods: longhand writing, a mark or signature in the appropriate place on the prescription, or an electronic prescription notation.

Permits physicians to use the designations "medically Necessary," "dispense as written," or "do not substitute" to prevent generic substitution.

Requires any generic equivalent drug dispensed to be pharmaceutically and therapeutically equivalent with the same active ingredient(s), dosage, form, and strength.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
