AL HB273

Establishes a $25 service of process fee for service or attempted service of documents by the Washington County Sheriff's Office in civil division cases of district and circuit courts.

Imposes a $50 service of process fee for matters pending or to be commenced in courts outside the State of Alabama.

Creates the Washington County Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund to receive collected fees, with $10 of each $25 fee distributed to the Circuit Clerk's Fund and the remainder deposited into the Law Enforcement Fund for sheriff discretionary use.

Exempts the district attorney, law enforcement, grand juries, and Washington County from payment of these fees.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
