HB355 Summary

• Amends Section 20-2-213 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to delete veterinarians from the Controlled Substances Prescription Database reporting requirements.

• Currently requires entities and practitioners dispensing Class II through Class V controlled substances to report to the database, including veterinarians who dispense drugs for administration to animals.

• Removes veterinarians from the list of practitioners subject to reporting requirements while maintaining reporting obligations for pharmacies, mail order pharmacies, and human healthcare practitioners (physicians, dentists, podiatrists, optometrists).

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
