Removes the prohibition against State Board of Education employees serving as board members.

Removes the prohibition against professional educators who have worked within five years before election from serving as board members.

Maintains existing requirements that board members be qualified electors of Alabama and represent their respective districts.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and gubernatorial approval.
