AL HB415

Prohibits health benefit plans covering intravenous insulin infusion from requiring use of hospitals instead of medical clinics or physician offices.

Prevents health benefit plans from imposing higher copayments, deductibles, or coinsurance amounts for intravenous insulin infusion in clinics versus hospitals, regardless of insulin formulation or benefit category.

Applies to all health benefit plans including insurance policies, HMOs, PPOs, and similar entities that handle claims for Alabama residents or services provided in Alabama, including out-of-state plans.

Defines "clinic" as medical facilities providing examination and treatment without overnight patient admission, including rural clinics in medically underserved areas.

Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and Governor approval.
