HB 454 Summary

• Removes the 200-pound weight requirement from the definition of motor-driven cycles in Alabama motor vehicle law.

• Motor-driven cycles are still defined as motorcycles or motor scooters with motors producing no more than 5 brake horsepower and 150 cubic centimeters of engine displacement, but no longer require weighing less than 200 pounds fully equipped.

• Amends Section 32-1-1.1 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to expand the scope of vehicles classified as motor-driven cycles.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
