AL HB519

Authorizes the Baldwin County Sheriff to establish procedures for making limited purchases using credit or debit cards issued to the Sheriff's Office.

Requires the sheriff to promulgate written policies including monetary limits on individual and monthly purchases, restricted access to cards and codes, accurate record-keeping, monthly bill reviews, and timely full payment to avoid fees.

Requires the sheriff to select card providers considering annual fees, rewards or rebates, interest rates and late fees, termination penalties, and other relevant factors.

Directs any rewards or rebates earned from card use to be deposited into the Sheriff's Discretionary Fund of Baldwin County.

Takes effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor.
