Each local board of education shall annually establish a school calendar advisory committee to assist in creating the local academic school calendar for the ensuing year.

The local board of education determines the committee size and selects members from residents of the local school system, including parents of currently enrolled students and representatives of local governmental and economic interests.

Advisory committee membership must include representatives from chambers of commerce, economic development authorities, industrial development authorities, real estate companies, elected governmental officials, local governing bodies, and agricultural operations.

Committee membership shall be inclusive and reflect the racial, gender, geographic, urban, rural, and economic diversity of the local school system.

The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
