• Imposes a $30 booking fee on each person booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and subsequently convicted of a crime, in addition to any fines or court costs.

• Court clerk assesses and collects the fee at the same time as court costs but the fee is not classified as a court cost.

• Distributes collected revenues as follows: $20 to the Etowah County Sheriff's Department Law Enforcement Fund, $5 to the Circuit Clerk's Fund, and $5 to the District Attorney's Fund.

• Authorizes the district attorney to assist in collection and the sheriff to withhold funds from inmates' accounts to pay the fee; withheld funds are repaid if no conviction results.

• Becomes effective on the first day of the third month following passage and approval by the Governor.
