Commends Sergeant John Sharp of the Decatur Police Department as a nominee for the 2016 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, Alabama's highest law enforcement award.

Recognizes Sharp's heroic actions on May 23, 2015, when he and two other officers responded to a pickup truck that plunged into Flint Creek with the driver, Shane Edge, still trapped inside.

Credits Sharp with demonstrating extraordinary courage by entering the water, breaking the windshield, and helping rescue Mr. Edge as the vehicle submerged, risking his own safety to preserve a life.

Directs that Sergeant John Sharp receive a copy of the resolution as evidence of the legislature's admiration and esteem for his service and commitment to protecting Decatur residents.

Adopted by the House on April 12, 2016, and by the Senate on April 19, 2016.
