Commends Amerie Gramelspacher, a senior at Thomasville High School, for receiving the 2016 Prudential Spirit of Community Award presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Recognizes her suicide awareness project conducted in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which included a 5K run, teacher training presentations, suicide hotline signage, and counseling office resources.

Notes that the 5K race raised $1,600 to purchase a suicide prevention curriculum now taught quarterly at her school, with her National Honor Society chapter assisting with the event.

Acknowledges that Gramelspacher converted her personal loss from losing an aunt to suicide into volunteer service and community leadership.

Offers congratulations from the Alabama House of Representatives and extends best wishes for her continued success and happiness.
