Posthumously honors Ralph R. Harris, Sr., on his selection for the Alabama Agriculture Pioneer Award.

Recognizes Harris's 35-year career as Auburn University Department of Animal Science faculty member, during which he taught many of the state's veterinarians.

Harris earned a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science in 1951 and Master's Degree in Animal Nutrition in 1952, and served 37 years in the Air Force Reserve, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Harris received multiple teaching accolades including the College of Agriculture Dean Award for Teaching Excellence, Mortar Board Honorary's Favorite Teacher Award, and induction into the Alabama Cattlemen's Association Livestock Hall of Fame.

Harris served as Department of Animal Sciences head from 1993 until his retirement in 1995 and passed away in April 2015, leaving behind his wife Eleanor of 61 years, three children, and four grandchildren.
