Dale Sherman Moon, a lifelong Fort Walton Beach resident, died on February 27, 2016, at age 63, having graduated from Choctawhatchee High School and attended Auburn University on a football scholarship as a member of the 1972 Auburn Amazins.

Moon was a long-term member of the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors, Auburn Football Lettermen Club, and All Sports Association, and was recently honored with the Colonel Al Byrne Award for selfless dedication to youth through mentorship and volunteerism.

Moon coached little league teams, mentored high school and college-bound athletes, and volunteered extensively for youth organizations, schools, and community groups including the Rotary Club, Save the Manatee, and Save the Sea Turtle.

Moon is survived by his wife Vickie Alford Moon, sister Helen Jo Wise, and nieces Jayme Braaton and Lori Hadley, and was preceded in death by his parents Dale C. and Frances Staff Moon.

The House of Representatives records Moon's death with deep sadness and celebrates his life while extending heartfelt sympathy to his family.
