Recognizes Officer James Harton of the Decatur Police Department as a nominee for the 2016 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award.

On May 23, 2015, Officer Harton responded with Sergeant John Sharp and Officer Larry Sharpley to a vehicle rescue on U.S. Highway 31 where a pickup truck had plunged into Flint Creek with the driver, Shane Edge, still trapped inside.

The three officers entered the water, broke the windshield, and pulled Mr. Edge to safety despite ignoring their own personal safety risks.

Commends Officer Harton for demonstrating immense courage, diligence, and quick response that saved Mr. Edge's life and exemplified his commitment to protect and serve Decatur residents.

Directs that Officer Harton receive a copy of the resolution as evidence of the House's admiration and esteem.
