Recognizes Sergeant John Sharp of the Decatur Police Department as a nominee for the 2016 Alabama Legislative Medal of Honor for Law Enforcement, the state's highest law enforcement award for extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

On May 23, 2015, Sergeant Sharp and Officers Larry Sharpley and James Harton responded to an emergency call when a pickup truck driven by Shane Edge plunged into Flint Creek on U.S. Highway 31 with the driver still trapped inside.

The three officers entered the water, broke the windshield, and pulled Mr. Edge to safety, with Sergeant Sharp placing himself directly in the path of danger to protect the driver.

Directs the House of Representatives to present Sergeant Sharp with a copy of this resolution as recognition of his courage, quick thinking, diligence, and commitment to protect and serve the residents of Decatur.
